He was a prominent 32-year-old student leader and activist who founded the Inqilab Moncho (Platform for Revolution). He was a key figure in the 2024 "July Revolution" that ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
On December 12, 2025, Hadi was shot while leaving a mosque in Dhaka. He died of his injuries in a Singapore hospital on December 18, 2025.
His death has triggered massive, often violent protests across Bangladesh. Protesters have targeted news offices and government buildings, demanding justice and accusing "foreign agents" or loyalists of the former regime of carrying out the hit.
